I didn’t realize when exactly but at least since version 3.1 I cannot use kurviger anymore on my phone, because the app now relies on google services. One reason to subscribe had been, that kurviger worked on my Huawei P40. Does anybody know a workaround (which does not imply to buy a new phone)?

We don’t offer our app outside of Google Play. I am not sure where you downloaded the app, probably some of the apk download sites?
Either way, can you clarify what exactly is not working? Some features are not available without Google Play services, but so far I thought the app should basically work without Google services.
You could probably install the Google Play services on your phone, I am not sure how complicated this is as of now, I know that this has been a bit fiddly in the past.
location services is missing.
When starting the app I’ll get a warning in pink that google services are not available and the app is not able to find my actual location and thus does not navigate
installing google services (micro g) still is fiddly. I didn’t manage to get it to work.
using gbox does work but has a timelag to find actual location of 2 - 3 minutes 
But I just saw that it is possible to change location services in kurviger settings from “google” to “android”
This did the trick. 
I’ll test the performance on my next trip.
it would be helpful to include this possibility in the warning / error message
