When you download a file, some browsers ask you if you want to open the file straight away. Otherwise you can just open a .csv, no need to import it

Yes, but depends indeed on used browser (Chrome does not do, but opens the query for the storage location).
Therefore not a universal hint for all users.

This depends on how you open the file. You need to select “,” as separator and UTF-8 as text encoding, then it should work as expected. Unfortunately it seems everyone has different default settings and Excel seems to remember the last setting you used, so everyone has a different experience ;D

Ich habe diese Funktion noch nie genutzt!. Also, mein Grüner-Apfel-GPX als CSV gespeichert. Mit Exel versucht zu öffnen - Niente, Nada. Schon der Dialog von Excel zum Import fehlt.

Die Datei von CSV zu TXT umbenannt und siehe da, ich habe Dialog, kann UTF8 anwählen, Symbole, die Umlaute stimmen, Entfernung müssen formatiert werden.

Warum wird immer versucht den User als den Dummen hinzustellen? Siehe Export mit 100 WP im ITN-Format.

Und mal generell gefragt: Wäre es nicht geschickter solche Neuerungen nicht in die beginnende Urlaubssaison zu legen sondern in den Herbst zu verschieben?

I have never used this function!. So, saved my green apple GPX as a CSV. Tried to open with Exel - Niente, Nada. Already the dialog from Excel to import is missing.

Renamed the file from CSV to TXT and lo and behold, I have dialog, can select UTF8, symbols, the umlauts are correct, distance needs to be formatted.

Why is it always tried to make the user look like the stupid one? See export with 100 WP in ITN format.

And generally asked: Would it not be more clever to put such innovations not in the beginning vacation season but in the fall?

Ja gut, dann brauchst die Funktion ja auch nicht. Dann fehlt dir jetzt nichts und hat dir davor auch nichts gefehlt, dann ist doch alles super.

Doesn’t make it much easier: You still have to work through the conversion dialog - much more complicated than with direct copy&paste of the HTML table as described above.

Bis heute war ich der Meinung, dass jemand, der mit BaseCamp arbeitet sicherlich mit Excel klarkommen müsste …

Ich habe noch nie ein Roadbook erstellt - aber nun habt ihr mich neugierig gemacht. Es ist ganz einfach das .csv-File zu importieren und auch die Nachbereitung (Pausen einfügen etc.) ist kein Hexenwerk. siehe Vorarlberg.xlsx (25.8 KB) (Aufwand ca. 20 Minuten)

Ein paar Gedanken zum Thema Roadbook:

• Wie gesagt habe ich’s noch nicht vermisst. Und ich glaube auch nicht, dass heutzutage noch jemand anhand eines Roadbooks navigiert - Ausnahme: Sport-Events mit Querfeldein-Touren.
• Also bleibt das Einplanen von Pausen als Vorteil übrig. Dazu brauche ich aber kein fancy Excel-Sheet, bislang habe ich das mit Papier und Bleistift erledigen können. Die Zeiten pro Wegpunkt werden ja ausgewiesen und es sind nur die bis dorthin angefallenen Pausenzeiten zu addieren.
• Aber: wie wäre es, wenn wir die Startzeit beim Startpunkt und die Pausen in den Zwischenzielen (und nur dort!) eingeben könnten? Die Addition könnte damit automatisch erfolgen. Nur so’ne Idee - und muss ja nicht morgen sein. (Ich weiß, die To-Do-Liste ist schon lang genug …)

Noch’n Tipp: Ich trage die (momentan noch manuell errechneten) Zeiten in den Zwischenziel-Namen ein (z. B. “12:30 Lunch in Mittenwald”). Dann werden diese während der Navigation “vorgelesen” und man hat eine permanente Zeitkontrolle.

A few thoughts about roadbooks:

• As I said, I didn’t miss it yet. And I don’t think anyone navigates from a roadbook these days either - except for sporting events with cross-country tours.
• So planning breaks remains as an advantage. But I don’t need a fancy Excel sheet for that, so far I’ve been able to do that with paper and pencil. The times per waypoint are shown and only the break times accumulated up to that point have to be added.
• But: how about if we could enter the start time at the start point and the breaks at the via points (and only there!)? The addition could then be done automatically. Just an idea - and it doesn’t have to be tomorrow. (I know, the to-do list is already long enough …)

Another tip: I enter the (currently still manually calculated) times in the waypoint name (e.g. “12:30 Lunch in Mittenwald”). Then they are announced during the navigation and you have a permanent time control.

Yes, the symbols can’t be copy pasted anymore. What I could offer is to show the same symbols as in the UTF-8 export?

Ich bin ja immer wieder überrascht wie oft bei diversen Events noch Roadbooks verwendet werden, gerade bei Oldtimer Ausfahrten etc.

Pausenzeiten sind ja nochmal ein eigenes Thema und könnten irgendwann mal verfügbar sein
