Remove OpenStreetMap links from default links to open with kurviger

Hi,

I like to open Kurviger links diretly with the app - therefore I activated the option “choose as default app” in android settings (I do not know the exact name of that option in english).

Problem: Tapping long on the map / More / Show on OpenStreetMap.org does not work.

If I disable kurviger as default app, it works.

Therefore I propose to remove OSM from the kurviger default options.

Solution usually is not to remove a feature that other users may find useful. :slightly_smiling_face:

But either to not use it with modified options or revert Android to default settings.
Any app set to capture by default a url will cause trouble to any other application.

In generally I agree, of course, but I think in this case the kurviger App is capturing ( and therefore blocking) it’s own feature “Show on OpenStreetMap.org” - or is there a workaround without switching default option on and off?

And I am wondering (and therefore ask here):
Is it useful to open OSM in kurviger instead of Web browser? Usually I open OSM to check (and to correct) map data - for example if I do not understand why kurviger does not use a road.
Correction is (as far as I know) not possible within kurviger.

But currently there is a workaround: Use option “Copy coordinates”, open browswer manually, open OSM and paste coordinates - at the moment this seems to be easier than to switch default options off and on …

Note that if mean the Android setting App info | Open by default | Supported links, we cannot modify the list afterwards. It’s managed by Android based on app’s supported urls.

Hi,

gambling around I found a workaround - I still do not understand that (and I am afraid that I probably never will ), but it works on my smartphone (Android 5) perfectly and on my Tablet (Android 7) nearly perfectly (OSM links from mail still open in Kurviger).

Perhaps it might help someone … it’s a little bit tricky :slight_smile:

Based on the “Problem”:

Solution Android 5

  • Settings / Apps / kurviger Pro / Open by default

  • -> Reset actions to default

  • In Kurviger long press on map / More … / “Show on OpenStreetMap.org” -> Google Chrome -> always
    Repeat this last step until the query for the app no longer comes

  • Open kurviger link from an app (e.g. mail)

  • Question: “Open with”: -> kurviger -> Always

  • Open kurviger link from Chrome

  • Question: “Open with”: -> kurviger -> Always

Finished:

  • kurviger Links in mail + chrome open in kurviger
  • “Show on OpenStreetMap.org” works in Kurviger App (opens in Chrome)
  • OSM link in mail opens chrome

Solution (99%) Android 7:

  • Settings / Apps / kurviger Pro / Open by default

  • Open supported links = “ask every time”.

  • Reset actions to default

  • Open kurviger link from an app (e.g. mail)

  • Question: “Open with”: -> kurviger -> Always

  • Settings / Apps / kurviger Pro / Open by default

  • Open supported links = “ask every time”.

  • Open kurviger link from an app (e.g. mail)

  • Question: “Open with”: -> kurviger -> this time only

  • Settings / Apps / kurviger Pro / Open by default

  • Open supported links = “ask every time”.

Finished:

  • kurviger Links in mail + chrome open in kurviger
  • “Show on OpenStreetMap.org” works in Kurviger App (opens in Chrome)
  • OSM link in mail opens in kurviger -> use “Show on OpenStreetMap.org”
