Proposal: Give hints for skipped waypoints

Reference: This overlong thread (I am the one to blame) here.

Use case:
In case I drive with recalcution (might also be relevant for driving with no recalculation) it may happen that I deviate from the planned route for any reason.

Due to recalculation some waypoints may be skipped correctly by the software, but unexpected for the user. Currently the waypoints are skipped, but the user is not informed.

Proposal:
When a recalculation removes waypoints the user should be informed.

I am not sure, if it should be active from the first one? I guess the logic could be executed after current re-calculation. Then the count of additional skipped points are summed up. This sum may be relevant.

  • Visual hint with a toast for about 3 to 5 seconds.
  • Audio with corresponding text.

I am not sure, if this additional information may disturb the one or other. For me, it would be acceptable.

Text could be:

  • Waypoint “5” skipped. Please check route.
  • Waypoint “5” and “6” route. Please check route.
  • in case of more skipped waypoints to shorten.
Many waypoints skipped. Please check route.
  • Or just simple: Waypoints skipped. Please check route.

Advantage:
The user is informed very early, so he can decide what to do immediately.

Writing this, I have a déjà vue. Perhaps often in comments, but I found no dedicated request.

Yes, this was discussed before in a few different places, for example here: Anregung: Wegpunkt überspringen bei der Navigation - essentially, this is on our list already and shouldn’t be too far away as well.
