Siehe Offline Karten Tutorial [Kurviger Knowledgebase]

Yes Uli, it is true that the map layers can only be used with offline maps. See Offline Maps Guide [Kurviger Knowledgebase]

Hi Uli,
apart from mentioned layers the benefits of offline maps are:

  • Map is visible even with no internet connection.
  • Data consumption on the road is reduced drastically.
Even with online route calculation data usage is close to zero.
  • offline routing makes no sense without offline maps

On the other hand… I’m just too lazy to ever set up offline maps and I have survived quite well to this day  so… it’s not mandatory

So in the app there is no way to search for POI categories near the current location for example? Drove with the app for the first time today and excited, coming from TomTom and I liked this feature. If I have to manually pick out the POIs on the map that’s ok too, just want to make sure I don’t miss a feature.

If offline maps are used, one can “unlock” the relevant POIs from the map layers. If all layers are selected, it becomes quite confusing.

I’m not a POI freak and turn them all off - but in an emergency, for example, the “gas stations” layer can still be activated during the tour.

Thanks for the answer - if I understand you correctly there’s only the possibility to turn the POI categories on or off - so you have to pick and choose the desired destination yourself if necessary. In the Navi, for example, you could click on gas stations in the vicinity and then get a list sorted by distance shown and could select the desired directly.

Such improvements and others may be available in the future.

However, the search in the app is the same as in the website.

This is already available for offline maps in the menu “Map | Map layers”.

Ja das weiss ich. Ich dachte da eher an so eine Favoriten-Taste, denn so muss man mehrere Schritte machen.

Jens,

How can I set up the distance level of the POI drawing at the map?
I have to zoom in far too see them.

The zoom levels of map layers depend on both offline maps and map styles.

If you want to change the default zoom levels,
you can use external map styles (and change them):

It depends on the map.
I tried the kurviger maps and now the gas stations are visible. But now the POIs for ‘Gastronomie’ are disappeared. :smirk:

The zoom levels of map layers depend on both offline maps and map styles:

POI usually appear at high zoom levels, otherwise the map would be unreadable.
e.g. OpenStreetMap.org displays gastronomy layers in zoom 18.

Also the amount of POIs in the layers affects their zoom level.

Examples from OpenStreetMap.org:

  • There are few hospitals → they appear in zoom 15
  • There are many pharmacies → they appear in zoom 17
  • There are too many restaurants → they appear in zoom 18

Sure, but if I want to avoid too much symbols on the map, I can switch off some of them.
For example, I want to see if there is a gas station or a café or restaurant.
Is ita solution to make the visibility zoom level of each category selectable?

You can use and change external map styles.

This is not a solution.

If a layer has too many POIs, it must be displayed in large zoom otherwise the map is not readable.
This is how all maps work.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=catfish.android.map2geo

1Blitz App Tankstelle suchen

2Tankstelle auswählen

3Navigation zur Tankstelle starten

4weiter mit Auswahl Map2Geo App

5weiter mit Auswahl Kurviger App

6 in Kurviger auf den blauen Punkt drücken

7Setze als Start, Zwischenziel, Ziel….zur Tanke navigieren

8Tanken…
