Indications vocales en francais / Speech instructions in French

Thank you very much for bringing this up. Just to clarify, the voice instructions “keep right”/“keep left” are not just used on motorways, but also on regular roads, when there is a fork. We currently don’t have motorway exit instructions.

So, if we change them, we should change the right and left instructions. Do you feel they are that wrong? If yes, how would you change them? They should work like a slight left of slight right turn.

Hi @Motobylette,
Did I get it right, that the topic is the highway exit, where it is now said “keep right”, while, maybe, the more common way is to say “take exit XY”?
Thx in advance for your answer.
Best Regards.

Merci d’avance

Thanks again for the proposal. The thing is, we have a a “keep right/left” instruction and we have a “turn right/left” instruction. Just to clarify, there are cases where we propose to keep, whereas the more logical description would be to turn. This is unfortunately something we can’t easily improve given that the road data is often limited.

For now, we have to keep the “keep right/left” instructions until we have a better turn instruction algorithm.

The keep instruction should let the driver know, that the road should be followed by either taking the left or the right, like in an Y-fork. You mention “serrez à droite” would be the correct description for this maneuver?

For actual turning, we are using “tournez à droite”.

Yes, “stay to the right” is very dangerous because we think stay on your road since in France we always stay on the right! I suggest “turn right” which is a clearer and less dangerous order.

If it is an exit or a Y, this formula “turn right” is the best, “keep right” is a less good proposal but above all DELETE “STAY ON THE RIGHT” which remains dangerous and ambiguous.

Hi to all,
actually I think, at highways, the preferable audio message should/might be “take exit XY” or “take exit XY right”.
Even in English, the “keep right” at exists is not the best solution, in my personal opinion.
Best Regards,
Tom

Hello Sfab, I think like you, on motorways and roads with separate carriageways we should use “take the exit (number x)”.
In other cases, Y intersections for example, “turn right” but never "stay at right»

Thanks again for the discussion, we will update the instruction to

This should be added with the next update.

Yes, this is currently not possible, but is something we want to add in the future.
