Experience with version 3.5.0

First of all compliments for the app.
I made a tour in the UK of about 3000km with great pleasure

. Seen places I normally would not see. I made the tour in October with the then latest release 3.5.0. Some remarks:

  • app crashes when online maps are removed
  • already mentioned earlier buy others if there is no data connection the navigation keeps working on GPS but changes, removing waypoints or reloading the trip does not work. Also with bad reception you get a message to upgrade

  • closed roads are a recurring problem, apparently there are a lot of roadworks. (a second satnav with Smartlink can help sometimes. Is a kind of Smartlink an option?
  • The altitude is an often recurring problem you cannot trust it for example 1175 mi with 104921ft meters altitude, second item 5315ft height at sea level

  • Buttons are to smal when driving, I was in a car, but on the motorbike with gloves etc it would be nicer (already suggested elsewhere) to have something temporarily bigger
  • Voice instructions by the app are sometimes shortened sometimes complete
  • Small roads in OSM in the UK are really small. In the settings small roads were excluded, but beware of this fact, if you have doubts better return (depending of course on your abilities and kind of vehicle)
  • In the latest version jumping direct to an other waypoint is very useful!

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Can you reproduce that? If yes, can you provide a bit more info, I wasn’t able to repro this.

Road closures is something we have on our list and would like to further improve yes. Right now we don’t have a solution for this yet though.

So far we haven’t heard about altitude issues on iOS. We know that the altitude on Android is sometimes off about 50m. Such extreme changes are not a known issue. Has this been an issue before or only on this trip? Was your highest altitude on that trip about 1000m / 3500ft and the average more like 900ft?

About the crash I did reproduce it this morning

After that I got a message in the app that it had crashed. I reported the crash separately. I don’t think the app really crashed. It did not shut down, maybe it’s only the message……

The altitude problem was frequently visible with impossible heights to local knowledge. On the other hand is was accurate in an number of cases. I am only using the app recently. The situation in the car is in the front window in the middle. On the bike I have not recent

ly been in hilly country ( flat Netherlands). I include the plannend trip in Kurviger an the recorded trip as an example. I reset the ft to m. In the planning it was up 4256m. Recorded trip shows 31980m, which is an impossible figure

You can see on the planning that the altitude is below 400m and recorded shows a figure of 1778 and even higher….

Interesting, yes I can see your report, but it has no actual crash information either. Will keep an eye on this.

Got it, so most probably there is something wrong with recording the elevation in ft, we will look into this :+1:. Thanks a lot for reporting this.

I wasn’t able to reproduce this so far. So if anyone else saw this, please let us know :+1:
