Erste Tour, Begeisterung und ein Problem: Zooooooom

Hello! Made my first tour today (a test, my usual drive from Gotha to Nordenham) with Tourer+ (still in evaluation. I had Kurviger Pro on the tablet (and phone) but was not really satisfied. Because I also had “Copilot” (navigation from Trimble, not this MS AI thing… So I planned my tours with kurviger website for years now and imported into Copilot, which is of course always a hustle, because these are two navigation systems. Now Copilot is history after a horrible update — just unusable crap.
So Kurviger — planning the route on the pc, saving to the cloud, loading in the tablet and driving — just a dream! Perfect. (I use Komoot for the bicycle and love this way there too). Everything fine, but the driving…? Well, on the autobahn with 140km/h I see 1 km ahead in 2d mode and about 5 km in 3d — slightly better, but I never drive with 3d, I just don’t like it… The zoom at the turning point is just fine, also when I manually zoom out, but it zooms in again after some seconds.
What am I doing wrong? I just want to see more… Please help.
Tnx. VG, NG.

You can switch off the automatic zoom and recenter in the settings:

I think this setting currently only affects the app on your mobile phone screen, but not yet the Android Auto screen.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah our zoom on the motorway is too close, we are aware of that and are looking into improving this in the future.

Hello, many thanks, I will try that setting.

One point about the zoom: While driving you want to see the route. When turning you want to see the details. Sometimes this is solved by split-screen, mostly by zoom. I knew one setting that pleased me most: Automatic zoom to the next waypoint. This can be a turn or a navigation point. This means, on the autobahn you have 200km until the next turn. On the country roads you set a waypoint 2-3km after a turn — and you always have a perfect view on your route, and on the details… (Yes, this features was implemented in Copilot and this was the only reason to use it…).
Might be a solution for many wishes for the navigation view…
Maybe I might find screenshots on my harddisk…

I am just wondering, what is the use case of a map that shows the next 200 km for navigation? I get that looking ahead a bit makes total sense to see the next parking, exit on a motorway etc.

Hello Robin, yes you are basically correct. When I drive on the autobahn I need a navigation with a traffic service anyhow so this can be out of scope of Kurviger/Tourer… Just like speed cams. What I am searching sometimes is the next parking with a pipi-box

When I drove on Monday evening I noticed that while driving on the autobahn I see the small roads in the village nearby. Those do not interest my either…

Still — that feature “zoom on the next waypoint” is perfect!
