Kurzes Feedback zur Navigation per Outdoorphone mit der Kurviger Navigationsapp nach 14 Tagen Dolomiten und rund 3300 km:
- Akkulaufzeit bei gut 5 Ah ohne Bluetooth- oder WLAN Tethering und 75% Helligkeit im Display → nach 10 Stunden noch rund 30%. Bei automatischer Helligkeit reicht der Akku nicht ohne in der Mittagspause nachzuladen, da das Display sonst zu oft auf voller Helligkeit steht - man kann aber bei 75% alles ähnlich gut oder schlecht erkennen wie beim TomTom Rider 2013.
- Bei starkem Regen hat sich das Ulefone bei meiner Frau häufig verabschiedet, meins lief völlig problemlos. Mag daran liegen, daß das eine Gerät sehr exponiert angebracht ist, das andere direkt über dem Fahrzeugdisplay → sollte man vor einer Urlaubsfahrt testen, ob das mit dem eigenen Setup läuft. Vielleicht hat aber auch eines unserer beiden Outdoorphones einen Schlag, konnte ich nicht verifiziern
- Route aufgrund der Wetterlage oder sonstigem kurzfristig umplanen (Via- oder Shapingpoint löschen oder hinzufügen, Routing komplett ändern) → im offline Modus kam es einmal zu einem Aussetzer, nach Neustart bzw. erneuter Konfiguration des BRouters problemlos. Im online Modus perfekt und in 5 Minuten erledigt, de facto besser und schneller als bei TomTom und Garmin
- Generell sollte man auch bei kurviger viele Via- oder Shapingpoints auf einer geplanten Tour setzen, denn im offline Modus kann nur eine Routenoption berechnet werden. Ich habe die Option BRouter → BRouter App → Car fast → Server Mode → Motorcar fast (das entspricht der schnellsten Route) gewählt, da mir die Konfiguration der verschiedenen Routenoptionen des BRouters zu komplex sind. Durch die vielen Via- oder Shapingpoints bleibt auch beim zufügen oder entfernen einzelner Punkte die Original Route im offline Modus weitestgehend erhalten
- Geplante Routen sollten unbedingt lokal auf dem Navigations Smartphone gespeichert sein, um diese ggf. neu laden zu können
- Synchronisation mehrerer Navigations Smartphones über Google Drive problemlos - vorausgesetzt man hat eine Internet Verbindung und die Drive Sync App auf allen Navis installiert.
Fazit: für rund 200,- Euro ein für mich perfektes Navigationssystem was Planung, Routenübertragung vom PC auf’s Navi und Navigation selbst angeht.
Short feedback on navigation via Outdoorphone with the Kurviger navigation app after 14 days in the Dolomites and around 3300 km:
- Battery life at a good 5 Ah without Bluetooth or WLAN tethering and 75% brightness in the display → after 10 hours still around 30%. With automatic brightness, the battery is not sufficient without recharging during the lunch break, as the display is otherwise too often at full brightness - but at 75% you can see everything as well or poorly as with the TomTom Rider 2013.
- In heavy rain, my wife’s Ulefone often stopped working, mine ran without a hitch. This may be due to the fact that one device is mounted very exposed, the other directly above the vehicle display → you should test before a holiday trip whether it works with your own setup. But maybe one of our two outdoor phones has a knock, I couldn’t verify that.
- Replan route at short notice due to weather conditions or other reasons (delete or add via or shaping points, change routing completely) → in offline mode there was a dropout once, after restarting or reconfiguring the BRouter no problems. In online mode perfect and done in 5 minutes, de facto better and faster than with TomTom and Garmin.
- In general, you should set many via or shaping points on a planned tour, even if it is curvy, because only one route option can be calculated in offline mode. I chose the option BRouter → BRouter App → Car fast → Server Mode → Motorcar fast (which corresponds to the fastest route), because the configuration of the various route options of the BRouter are too complex for me. Due to the many via or shaping points, the original route is largely retained in offline mode even when adding or removing individual points.
- Planned routes should always be saved locally on the navigation smartphone so that they can be reloaded if necessary.
- Synchronisation of several navigation smartphones via Google Drive is problem-free - provided you have an internet connection and the Drive Sync app installed on all navigation devices.
Conclusion: for around 200 euros, a perfect navigation system for me in terms of planning, route transfer from the PC to the navigation device and navigation itself.
