Can't access a road, please give basic instructions

[EN] I think I have found an issue with the route calculated by Kurviger

[EN] I read the corresponding documentation

[EN] Here is a url to a short example (<10km) that shows the issue:

[EN] This piece of road is not accessible starting at waypoint 1.
If you use Google Street View, there is no problem

The road has two lanes, it’s a tourist road.
I am aware, that this is an OSM-thing and I have heard, that I myself can have a look, what’s the matter.
However, OSM is not accessible for me. I have not found a source yet who can explain on a newbie-basis, how to proceed step by step.

Is there someone here, who can do that, using this example?
I can imagine, that such a basic tutorial would help a lot of other Kurviger-Users to help themselves.
Thank you very much!

(siehe oben)

Vielen Dank!

Gruß von Michael

Das Problem ist
|bicycle|yes|
|highway|unclassified|
|motor_vehicle|no|
|name|Voie Laurent Fignon|

Please remember that Michael asked for a small tutorial of how to set that value to yes, if you have the time it would be awesome to add some Screenshots or something to show him how to do it. This could be a great learning opportunity

For reference (mentioned also in incorrect routes documentation) there is an OSM start page for anyone wanting to learn more about OSM mapping.

New information on the topic “Thank you for your comment and sorry but I don’t speak German. If you take a closer look at the history of this object (https://aleung.github.io/osm-visual-history/#/way/129372926), you will see that the tag motor_vehicle=no was created by another contributor in 2011 in the changeset https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/9249139. I don’t know if that’s right at all. My modification just consisted in correcting the geometry of the road. It is likely that the original contributor put this information after a field survey. I invite you to contact him for more information. If you are sure that motor vehicles are allowed, please feel free to update.”

I’ll hold on.

Reply from geo-ranger “Hello Luckytown, probably a mistake. Please change this as you think it is. I was there six years ago. Best wishes.”

Hey, if someone can confirm 100% that cars are allowed to drive there, it could be changed.

[EN] The road is the mountain road to the Col du Tormalet, one of the highest mountain passes in the Pyrenees. There is no information, that this road is generally closed for motor vehicles.
Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Col_du_Tourmalet
This motorbike ressource doesn’t mention any closure: https://www.alpenpaesse.de/alpenpaesse/tourmalet-pass-col-du-tourmalet

Thank you for this fast reaction of so many people here.
Indeed, I hoped for a tutorial, however if there is so much competence here in this forum to correct OSM, I do not need a tutorial, obviously.

[DE}

For example, you can also have a look at this video:

I think it provides a nice overview of the things you can do. In the beginning it can really help to ask for pointers here in the forum to get started .

In Reihe der Bilder:

In series of pictures:

  1. start picture can be reached, via kurviger.de right click “Show OSM.org”.
  2. click on “Edit with ID” on the left
  3. if the window appears, click on "Edit now
  4. the properties appear on the left, click on the corresponding “here motor vehicles” and change them (no/yes) Always be sure that it corresponds to the facts.
  5. Click on the check mark next to "Edit object
  6. right click on the upload icon with number of changes, in this case "1
  7. enter the reason, in this case I used Tourmalet-Pass (Col du Tourmalet) - Alpenpässe | Pässe und Bergstraßen in Europa and click on "Upload Done.
I hope the quick course helps you. :grinning: Basically I prefer JOSM and therefore it is not easy to explain.

Ha, that was it! Thank you very much and apologize my late reaction.
I will work myself through this input.
For your information @Wolf and @devemux68:
Before I started this thread, I already had created an account at OSM and I have started to correct some map entries around my home. One day later I got a hint from another experienced user, what I had made wrong, and I realized, that working on OSM-Maps is nothing you can do right out of the box. I found the whole mapping process being complicated and not intuitive (no critics at all, the whole project is challenging and not easy to maintain). Therefore I was hoping for this tutorial here, explaining the special issues reagrding road accesibilities.
Happy biking from
Michael
