App: Animated location

• Kalman filter estimates the intermediate locations until next GPS report.
  (not rotation)
• Animated location animates the map to the next location.
  Including rotation, although rotation seems to react more slowly.

The Kalman filter works only straight ahead and not when turning?

With the animated location, I would say that when turning the map is displayed extremely delayed.

Kurviger 2.2.18 (Beta) has improvements in animated location.

Animated location now works better with Kalman filter.

• With Kalman filter
• Without Kalman filter

And report your feedback separately for both cases.

Both is working fine. The map rotation is now pretty quick. With Kalman filter the active track seems a little more angular, not so rounded. I can’t now see an advantage with active Kalman filter. Maybe Smartphones with lower CPU performance benefit from this? My preference is smooth movement without Kalman filter.

Thanks for the report.

Kalman Filter processes GPS reports helping with GPS jumps, loss and estimation.
It provides fixed locations many times / sec → smoother movement / faster rotation.

Without Kalman filter, the app uses directly the GPS location reports, at best 1 / sec.
